Course yardage markers are located on the fairways of all par fours and fives at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and there also are tropical shrubs situated on both sides of the fairways marking the 150 yard area. Pin placement sheets on the carts indicate the day's hole locations, and each cart comes equipped with a rear weather cover to help keep clubs dry during inclement weather.
Four sets of tees are provided to accomodate golfers of all skill levels. The Championship Tees measure 6988 yards and play to a 131 slope, while the White Tees measure 6443 yards/125 slope. The Black (Senior) Tees measure 6142 yards/122 slope. Ladies play from 5323 yards/119 slope. There are 66 bunkers situated on the course, and water comes into play on 11 holes, with just a couple of forced carries. Unlike most Florida courses Winston Trails G.C. has many different changes of elevation. It gives you a northern feel on a southern golf course.
Wide, mildly rolling fairways lined with palm trees and tropical landscaping play through an upscale residential community, with ponds and waterways located along the perimeters. The well maintained "Champion" greens are sloping and are large in size, and well protected by bunkers and greenside mounding. The bunkers themselves are often penal in nature, with high lips and intricate shaping.
Winston Trails is a wonderful layout with fine amenities – and we highly recommend it to golfers visiting Southeast Florida. Annual & Summer Membership plans are available. It is also moderately priced for this area…and is open for public play.
